“I don’t think he’s quite as good as we all thought he was” – Journalist’s spectacular view in Invincibles star

Celtic have sent many players to England and seen them flourish amongst the riches of the English Premier League.

Look at Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Ki Sung Yeung as a couple of examples of that.

Kieran Tierney is probably the most high profile Celtic player to leave and go to the EPL simply because he came straight from our academy and into a top six side in the English top division.

Pretty much unheard of in this day and age.

And it is fair to say he took the league by storm.

An FA Cup in his maiden season and first name on the team sheet, the Arsenal fans really took to the Scottish international.

But along came Zinchenko. The Ukrainian has been in sparkling form for The Gunners and has kept Tierney out the team,

But rather than focus on that, journalist Ryan Taylor, took this incredible view on the former Celt.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Taylor said, “I do, to be honest. I feel like Tierney’s someone that wants to play football.

“When he first came to Arsenal, everyone was sort of raving about him, but actually, I don’t think he’s quite as good as we all thought he was.

That’s not to say he’s not a very respectable, strong Premier League player because he would probably start for 12, 14 Premier League teams.”

Why can it not be as simple as the form of another player that is keeping him out the team? Tierney hasn’t just turned into a bad player overnight.

And the suggestion that he’s not good enough for a top six side is just downright English football snobbery as far as I am concerned.

If he isn’t that good, out of all the left backs in the world and with the kind of money Newcastle have, why are they looking to sign Tierney?

Exactly.
