“Why would you leave somewhere that you are comfortable, happy, winning football matches and going for trophies” – Celtic stars transfer ‘rumour’ slapped down from surprising source

Celtic Park

The one thing you can be sure of as a Celtic fan is that whenever a player at the club is successful, you have to endure unending stories of drivel and p*sh linking them with moves away from the club.

It’s boring, it’s predictable and it’s also a mark of how lazy our journalists are at trying to siphon out fact from fiction.

In fact, don’t even bother with that last part. Journalists in Scotland aren’t bothered with facts at all. They love fiction and speculation. It’s what gets them their clicks.

Me? I prefer just ripping their stories apart and picking holes in them.

But I can’t really pick holes in this one. It’s not from a journalist but it is from someone who I regularly mock on this blog for talking absolute bollocks about our club.

Allan Hutton. And this time he offered an opinion on Liel Abada apparently being chased by Southampton.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said, “If you look at Southampton and the situation they are in, there is a massive possibility of them being a Championship football club next year.

“Is that something you want to be a part of? I know they are probably building for the future but everything that is going on with their manager at this moment in time, it is a little bit uncertain.

“Why would you leave somewhere that you are comfortable, happy, winning football matches, going for trophies to go to somewhere there is going to have to be a massive turnaround?

“Personally, it is not something that I would be motivated with so I am pretty sure he will probably be thinking along the same lines.“

Ok, I did find something to pick holes in, he left Rangers for Spurs who had no chance of winning trophies, but I share his sentiments regarding Abada all the same.

  1. Alan Hutton only went to Spurs because they offered 9 million and although he really didn’t want to go, he really had no say in the matter.
