Callum McGregor defends his Celtic teammates as he reacts to critics

Celtic’s latest defeat has had the Scottish media jumping up and down with glee. Ange Postecoglou’s team were unstoppable on their march to defending the title and the SMSM didn’t like it.

Because it affected their feel good nonsense narrative surrounding the Ibrox Golden Boy, Michael Beale.

And now, after the title has been wrapped up, Celtic’s natural dip in form has the media handwringers typing with glee.

But Callum McGregor is having none of it. The Celtic captain admits form hasn’t been great and refutes the media questioning the mindset of his players.

McGregor said [Daily Record],  “The main thing is we remember the feeling of disappointment and we don’t just disregard it. We don’t just say, ‘We’re champions and who cares?’ That’s not the mentality of this group. We need to remember how it feels when we lose.

“Firstly for a final that we want to win and secondly for next season when we don’t want to give teams any oxygen in how they play against us and get confidence. We have to harness this feeling as much as we do when we win. You have to keep that with you and minimise how many times you feel like this.

“But we have a real chance to celebrate on Saturday and hopefully that will give everyone a lift.”

Let’s hope we see this passion on Saturday against Aberdeen on Trophy Day. No doubt the line up Ange sends out against the Dons will be our cup final starting eleven.

If that happens we’ll see goals, and plenty of them.

It’s time for Celtic to ram the media narrative down their throats and remind them exactly why we are the undisputed champions of Scotland.
