Barry Ferguson tips former Celtic superscout for top Ibrox position

The departure of Ross Wilson to Nottingham Forest this week has caused a bit of a stooshie.

Rangers fans seem delighted at the news whilst the Celtic fans are gutted.

Let’s be honest here, Wilson done a terrible job at Rangers. His signings were woeful and he struck it lucky only once with Calvin Bassey.

And Barry Ferguson reckons that former Celtic scout John Park could be in the frame for the available Director of Football position.

Writing in his column in the Daily Record, Ferguson said, “And there are three obvious candidates which jump out at me where the new man is concerned – Davie Weir, Craig Moore and John Park.

“Three guys who know the club inside out and who share an encyclopaedic knowledge of the marketplace.”

Should Celtic fans be worried at this?

Maybe. Park is responsible for transfers, pre-contracts or for fees at nominal costs; including Joe Ledley (free agent), Kris Commons (£300,000), Adam Matthews (pre-contract), Mikael Lustig (pre-contract), and perhaps most notably, Moussa Dembele (£500,000).

Now I suppose we can take heart from the fact that since Park has been at Rangers they haven’t signed a player yet that has caused us any problems but then how long can that go on for given his track record?

Ange Postecoglou won’t be sweating that appointment as the Celtic gaffers own signing successes prove that no matter what they do over at Ibrox, he will always be one step ahead of them.
