“Somebody actually asked this at the Celtic agm?” – Tom English reacts to incredible fan AGM question

Celtic Park from the Forge car park

Right, I’m not going to berate any Celtic fan for the questions they ask at the AGM.

They bought their shares and paid their money. They are entitled to ask whatever question they like.

However, if you have an opportunity to ask the board any question you like and you only get one shot at it what would you ask?

Transfers? Stadium development? Give Ange a new contract?

Nope. This fan had the balls to ask this:

Like I said, I’m not berating the guy one iota and for all I love ripping the p*sh out of them on this blog, I wouldn’t have asked that.

But fair play to him though.

He only asked what many of us get annoyed about when the media go along with the same club myth so for Celtic fans on that thread to be ridiculing him, and English for that matter, have a word with yourselves.

Or better still, see the people on that thread? See when someone uses the Old F*rm moniker to speak about our club, you have lost the right to correct them that there is no Old F*rm anymore.

Deal?

  1. I think it’s a legitimate question to ask and Nicholson giving it the brush off is scandalous but not surprising really. The guy’s asked a question that he’s absolutely entitled to ask as a shareholder, for it to be dismissed as an irrelevance tells me all I need to know about this board, we’re just a cashcow to them. They know we’d never let Celtic go to the wall like the fans at the other side of the city did and play on that. As far as I’m concerned Dermot Desmond hasn’t really got the best interests of the club at heart, we’re a plaything to him, a mere trinket that he can flash to impress his friends. I know the club’s well run and on a stable financial footing but where’s the ambition? He and his board are happy to clear up domestically and have a small soirèe into Europe only to get gubbed by club’s the same size or smaller than. A club the size of Celtic should be looking to get to the latter stages of tournaments but we haven’t done anything of note since Seville. It pisses me off that we don’t speculate to accumulate and I’m not saying break the bank but we could invest in a bit more quality than we currently do. The way the game’s run here is holding it back as the authorities are selling it short, our game gets talked down, wrongly in my opinion, and that doesn’t help either but the only way things will improve is to gut the sixth floor at Hampden. All they’re interested in doing is kowtowing to the Ibrox club and until supporters do something about it nothing will change because the clubs haven’t got the appetite for change that’s clearly evident.
