“All three parties admitting to acting illegally” – Sevco fined for price fixing scandal

Ibrox Stadium

This is a really bizarre story. It was first reported a few months ago that *Rangers were the subject of a price fixing scam alongside JD Sports and Elite Sports.

At the time, it was laughed off by the Rangers support as they claimed they would receive a small fine and move on.

What they simply don’t understand is that their OWN CLUB fleeced them by fixing the prices of the home replica shirt as they laughed off any suggestion that a hefty fine could be coming their way.

Well, it has and the Govan club are now set to pay out £225,000 for fixing a measly 10% mark up on the jersey’s.

Michael Grenfell, executive director of enforcement at the CMA said, “At a time when many people are worried about the rising cost of living, it is important that football fans are able to benefit from competitively priced merchandise.

“Instead, Elite, JD Sports and, to some extent, Rangers, worked together to keep prices high.

“Today’s decision sends a clear message to football clubs and other businesses that illegal anti-competitive collusion will not be tolerated.”

Rangers fans already pay over inflated prices for their Champions League packages compared to Celtic ad I’m sure their fans will be unhappy at this latest development. Won’t they?

Strange that.
