Frank McAvennie’s Hart/Fletcher injury theory is just baffling

Celtic Park

You know when you read something you need to take a second glance to try and understand what the piece is talking about?

I get that a lot on Follow Follow, but with this, I had to read it twice to try and understand what former Celt, Frank McAvennie was talking about when trying to explain why Steven Fletcher challenged Joe Hart for the ball the way he did which resulted in Hart receiving staples in his head.

Have a read of this:

“When you’re playing against Celtic you can get frustrated with the way Celtic play,” he told Football Insider.

(This is true.)

“I don’t know if he’s got a problem because the two of them played in England because there’s no way you leave your studs in like that.

(Erm, what? Why would the two of them have a beef from their time in England? When was the last time they even played against each other??)

“You don’t mean to hurt anyone and I’d hate to think an experienced professional like Fletcher would want to hurt Joe.

“Joe was brave. On another day he might have been off but I wouldn’t make too much out of it.“

“I wouldn’t make too much of it” whilst claiming that there could be an underlying issue from their time in the EPL??

You’re right Frank. It was just an innocuous challenge. That’s it.

Classic Frank.
